Alma Ganihar is a screenwriter, playwright, and author. Her screenwriting credits include Three Mothers, The Fifth Heaven (an adaptation of Rachel Eytan’s novel), The Ambassador’s Wife, and the series Yaffa, which will air this winter on the Kan 11 public broadcasting network (where she also served as co-creator). The films she has worked on have participated in festivals and won awards in various categories.
Her plays include The Silwan Peacock (an award-winning play staged in both Israel and Germany) and The Wild West, which earned her the Golden Hedgehog Award.

In addition, she has published two books: The Canary’s Revenge (Kinneret Publishing), currently being adapted into a film in an Israeli-French co-production, and GPS (Am Oved Publishing), which won the Wiener Prize for a debut novel, with one of its stories adapted into a film.
Her short stories have appeared in Granta and The Short Story Project.

Ganihar is an activist campaigning against the ongoing war in Gaza and the occupation, and has been involved for many years in advocacy for African asylum seekers in Israel.
