Iris Eliya Cohen

Iris Eliya Cohen is an award-winning Israeli writer and poet who writes for adults, children and toddlers. She has published sixteen books of prose and poetry, including the bestsellers “Maktub”, “Galbi”, “Mein Hart”, and the “Grandma Turbo” series. Her work has won her the Yitzhak Navon Prize (2018), the Yetzira Prize (2015), the Minister of Culture Prize and the Ramat Gan Prize for her debut novel Maktub. Her books “Doshinka”, “Neshama”, and “Galbi” were shortlisted for the Sapir Prize. Her children's book "Tal Waits for the Train" won the Dvora Omer Prize for Children's Literature. Many of her poems have been translated into English, Spanish and French, set to music and taught in schools.

A new version of her bestselling debut novel "Maktub" will be published in Hebrew by Altneuland Press in 2026.
