Marit Ben Israel is a prose and non-fiction author. She is one of the founders of the School of Visual Theatre and the Levinsky Garden Library for refugees and migrant workers. She is also a dramaturge and the author of the blog 'City of Happiness'.
Her novels include It's Forbidden to Sit on Braids and Still Life, as well as the trilogy Daughters of the Dragon (The Book of Fathers, The Book of Wishes, All the Girls, Am Oved). Her non-fiction works include Stories Can Save, The Book of Tom (a journey through the work of Tom Seidmann-Freud, in collaboration with Ada Vardi), When David Grossman Met Vito Acconci, exploring body art in the The Book of Internal Grammar, and Heart’s Desire: The Foundations of Artistic Puppet Theatre (in collaboration with Roni Mosenzon Nelken). She is also the author of the children's book A Day in Tom's Land.
Her upcoming book recounts the story of parting with a beloved mother who chose an unusual path to death, and of a magic potion that both failed and worked.
